Understanding Pre-emptive Blocking In Network Security

In my previous article, I have talked about all that you need to know about firewall implementation in network security. In this article, I want to talk about all that you need to know about pre-emptive blocking in network security. Follow me as we are going to look at this together in this article.

Pre-emptive blocking in network security seeks to prevent intrusion from happening before they occur. This is done by observing any danger signs of imminent threats and than blocking the user or IP address from which this sign originates. Example of this technique include attempts to detect the early footprinting stages of an imminent intrusion.

If you find that a particular IP address is the source of frequent port scans and other scans of your system, than you will block that IP address at the firewall.
